Roman Krasnoperov, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PhD), specialty “Geophysics, geophysical methods of mineral exploration”, scientific secretary and member of the scientific council of the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Secretary of the National Geophysical Committee of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which carries out Russia’s membership in the International Geodetic and Geophysical Union – IUGG. Repeatedly represented Russia at scientific and general assemblies of the IUGG and its associations. Author and co-author of more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed Russian and foreign scientific journals.

Research interests: problems of development of stationary magnetic observations in Russia and the application of modern geodetic technologies in geophysical research. Active participant in the project to expand the network of magnetic observatories of the international INTERMAGNET standard in Russia and neighboring countries. Regular participant in scientific expeditions, including to the Arctic regions of the country. He is the coordinator of the project to create a multidisciplinary GIS for solving problems in the field of geosciences. Deals with issues of the history of geomagnetic observations in Russia.

Session

  • Geoinformatics in Earth Sciences

The continuous growth of spatial data volumes in the field of geosciences requires the use of the entire complex of modern information technologies. Over more than 60 years of history, geographic information systems (GIS) have become one of the key tools for analyzing spatial information in solving a wide range of problems. The session will be devoted to current issues of applying geoinformatics methods and introducing modern GIS technologies in geology, geophysics, geography and other fields of science.
